Specializing in 18th-century painted furniture of Pennsylvania German and New England provenance, I began my woodworking craft in the early 1990s. In 2008 and again in 2010, I was chosen for the Directory of Traditional American Crafts by Early American Life magazine. Largely self-taught, I have participated in several weekend workshops at Olde Mill Cabinet Shoppe in York, Pennsylvania, with Eli Rios, Gene Landon, and Linda Carter Lefko.
Born and raised in historic Somerset County, Pennsylvania, I have been collecting antiques from an early age. I have combined this passion with an interest in woodworking to create pieces based on actual, documented antique furniture and folk art that is found in museums and private collections.
Currently residing in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, I am the university photographer at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP); previously, I pursued a twenty-five-year career as an award-winning photojournalist. My work has been published in Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, and Sports Illustrated. With Kathy Kemp, I am also the author of two books published by Crane Hill Publishers, Birmingham, Alabama: Revelations: Alabama’s Visionary Folk Artists and Welcome to Lickskillet.
